Math 060 is “a comprehensive study of mathematical skills, which should provide a strong mathematical foundation to pursue further study. Topics include principles and applications of decimal, fractions, percents, ratio and proportion, order of operations, geometry, measurement, and elements of algebra and statistics. Upon completion, students should be able to perform basic computations and solve relevant multi-step mathematical problems using technology where appropriate. ”(SCC College catalog) |

| Goals and Objectives: |
When the course is completed, you should be able to model and solve application (word) problems while learning to:
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals
- Utilize the correct order of operations
- Evaluate powers and roots
- Convert between fractions, decimals, and percents
- Express ratio and solve proportions
- Solve percent problems using the percent equation or the proportion method
- Use unit analysis within the US system and within the metric system
- Describe and define lines, angles, and basic geometric figures
- Calculate the perimeter, area, and volume of basic geometric figures
- Apply the Pythagorean Theorem
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide signed numbers
- Solve simple linear equations in the form ax + b = c
- Determine mean, median, and mode
- Interpret basic statistical graphs
- Use appropriate technology
