Please register at the Circulation Desk if you wish to check items out of the library.
SCC students taking curriculum classes must present a valid student ID (community patrons must present a Boyd Library card) in order to check out material from the library. Moore County campus students receive picture ID's through the audiovisual department; Hoke Center students receive a library card through the Circulation Desk.
Students taking classes through other colleges but taught at SCC, must present a valid student ID from their school.
Students taking any other SCC classes (such as continuing education, GED, etc.) must
be 18 or older and present a picture ID verifying a Moore or Hoke County address.
Persons who live or work in Moore or Hoke counties, and are 18 or older, may receive a community patron library card to check out materials from our library. Community Patrons must present a picture ID and a social security # OR North Carolina driver's license number. If a patron works in Moore or Hoke County, but lives in another county, the business address must be furnished.
Children under the age of 18 are only permitted on campus if they are enrolled in classes or are in the constant company of a parent or legal guardian (per the SCC Student Code of Conduct). Patrons under 18 who are not SCC students may take materials home if a parent or other adult is willing to check out the material and assume responsibility for it.
Library/student ID cards are not transferable - each person eligible for borrowing privileges must have his or her own library/student ID card. The owner of the library/student ID card used to check out materials is the one who will be responsible for all items checked out on that card.
We are pleased to be able to offer remote access to some of the electronic databases available in Boyd Library. Passwords are available for the following: NC LIVE, WilsonWeb, ProQuest Nursing Journals, and NewsBank.
Faculty, staff, and students who would like to obtain Remote Access Passwords may do so by submitting a valid SCC ID card to any circulation desk staff or by e-mailing the required information to the designated staff member. The information and a link to the correct e-mail are located under the Resources and Services button of the Library/LRC web page.
Students must submit their current and valid Student ID to the staff at the circulation desk. The staff member will verify the necessary information by checking the Student roster and verifying the Social Security Number. The password sheets will then be handed out to the student.
Faculty, staff, and students who would like to renew their Remote Access Passwords may do so by submitting a valid SCC ID at the Circulation Desk or by e-mailing the required information to the designated staff member. The information and a link to the correct e-mail are located under the Resources and Services link of the Library/LRC web page.
The State Legislature of North Carolina and the vendors of NC LIVE prohibit Sandhills Community College from releasing passwords to anyone other than our primary community of interest. Those included in that group are registered library patrons in good standing who are faculty, staff, or currently enrolled students.
Boyd Library is only authorized to provide Remote Access Passwords to Sandhills Community College faculty, staff, and students.
Remote access to electronic databases is a privilege and the password is not to be shared. Use of the Sandhills Community College electronic databases constitutes agreement to abide by the SCC Acceptable Use Policy.
Borrowers are responsible for all items checked out until they are returned. No materials will be checked out until all items are returned and fees are paid. Students must return all library materials and pay all fines before they will be allowed to complete the registration process at SCC for the following semester.
Graduating students will be required to return all library materials and pay all fines before they graduate. Please remember that transcript requests will not be honored until fines are cleared.
Students who are withdrawing will be required to get a signed release from the library verifying they do not owe any fees.
