
“12 in 6” Initiative
JobsNOW is a strategic plan with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for the North Carolina Community College system to provide training activities that effectively address the workforce challenges related to ensuring that enough workers are trained with the right skills for the current economy.
The goal of this program is to provide training activities where skills training can
be completed in less than 6 months. The plan has been primarily designed to
help those who are unemployed, with a concentration on those unemployed
because of layoffs, to train or retrain into occupational areas that might be hiring
in the local economy. The training will be based on preparing students for entry level positions in the following elected occupational areas:
