Each year Sandhills Community College proudly recognizes and honors alumni who have made substantial contributions in their fields of study and in their community.
Sandhills Community College Distinguished Alumni are unique individuals who have been chosen and recognized for their outstanding contribution to their profession and their community. Our Distinguished Alumni have made substantial contributions for the good of others and have served as a positive motivational force to those around them. Beginning in May 1990, the Distinguished Alumni honoree has given our commencement address.
In 2007, the Alumni Association began recognizing Notable Alumni for their contributions to their profession, discipline, or community leadership roles; public service; creative endeavors; or other major accomplishments since graduation.
In 2014, the Sandhills Community College Alumni Association began honoring alumni who has volunteered in their community achieving substantial recognition for deeds of service. Outstanding Alumni Volunteers are graduates of Sandhills Community College who have made contributions to the college and the community by volunteering as an avid promoter of Sandhills Community College and the Alumni Association.
The Alumni Awards Committee accepts nomination forms in March of each year. This Committee, the Alumni Board, and the President of Sandhills Community College review all nominations and selections are determined. The Distinguished and Notable Alumni are honored at a luncheon in April.
