Free Children’s Program at Boyd Library

Children are invited to enjoy books, poems, and riddles about famous personalities in “Meet Some of the Greats – A Biography Bonanza.” This free event will be on Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. until noon in the Barbara H. Cole Children’s Literature Center in the Boyd Library at Sandhills Community College.

Children will enjoy books, poems, and riddles about all sorts of famous people. There will be a selection of crafts and games, learning activities, take-away bags, and treats for all. Biographies will be on display for checkout and participants are invited to attend dressed as a famous person. Storytime will begin at 10:15.

Children of all ages are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. To reserve a spot, RSVP with the child’s name and age to konoldm@sandhills.edu.

The SCC Boyd Library

Those who live or work in Moore or Hoke counties and are 18 or older may receive a Community Patron Library Card.

The Katharine L. Boyd Library provides comfortable, pleasant surroundings for study and leisure reading. Library materials are not only selected to support and supplement academic programs, but they are also chosen to stimulate reading as a leisure-time activity.

The collection includes more than 80,000 items and extensive periodical holdings which include subscriptions to local, state, and national newspapers. There is a large microfilm and microfiche collection which includes a complete run of the New York Times from its beginning in 1851.

There are computerized indices to newspaper and periodical articles such as NC LIVE and Opposing Viewpoints. The library’s collection of over 2,000 videotapes and DVDs contains instructional programs, feature films, documentaries, musicals, operas, plays, classic children’s films, and PBS programs.

The Boyd Library is open Monday-Thursday 7:45 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday 7:45 am-4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.
