Who does the Guarantors Program help?
The Guarantors Program helps students who are faced with significant financial challenges to stay in school. It supports the traditional college student as well as the older student—many times a displaced factory worker—who is coming to Sandhills to learn a new skill and develop a new career. Guarantors support provides tuition, books and fees as well as other expenses that are critical to the student’s capacity to stay in school and succeed in his or her program of study. Without the Guarantors, many students would be unable to continue their studies at Sandhills. The Guarantors Program also helps to ensure the quality of the academic programs the college provides to its students once they get to Sandhills—support for the college’s superb faculty, for the acquisition of new equipment and for first-class instructional facilities. The SCC Guarantors Program underwrites the college’s commitment to student opportunity and academic excellence—two of the core values that make Sandhills the unique college it is.
