Criminal Justice Technology
Featuring both day and evening class programs, the CJT
program is designed to teach the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes
associated with the study of correctional operations and law
enforcement. It includes courses such as police procedures, law,
corrections and public relations. Classes are not only beneficial to
students wishing to enter the criminal justice field, but can also be
used to enhance currently employed law enforcement agents's skills by
fine tuning areas such as report writing, computer skills, and
communication/ relations skills. Students who complete the requirements
of the program will receive the Associate in Applied Science degree.
Special Program Information
- Admission to the college does not guarantee placement into the Criminal Justice Technology Program.

In addition to the SCC requirements, students pursuing the Criminal
Justice field must be of good moral character and possess a good work
history.
- Persons interested in pursuing law enforcement
as well as students in criminal justice program can further their
training by completing the Basic Law Enforcement Training program,
which is offered through a separate BLET program at SCC.
Employment Opportunities
Students graduating from the Criminal Justice Technology program
are ready to enter fields in law enforcement (police, corrections,
probation/parole, wildlife officers), security (private industry
security force, investigators for banks, insurance companies), and
social services (social services case investigators, domestic violence
center personnel). Other fields to be considered are court officials,
magistrates, and with further education, FBI, SBI, DEA, ATF, etc....

Basic Law Enforcement Training
Individuals
interested in a career in law enforcement have the opportunity to
participate in the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program. This program
prepares individuals to take the BLET certification examination as
mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training
Standards Commission. SCC offers this program separately from the
Criminal Justice Technology Program. Schedules and locations for the
