The Surgical Technology program can be completed in 1 year (diploma) or 2 years (Associate's Degree) , however we highly recommend that students take several corequisite courses (English, Psychology, etc) prior to beginning the Surgical Technology coursework if possible. Financial planning: Students are responsible for extra costs for uniforms, supplies, medical exam, insurance, clinical travel, National Board Exam, Membership in Association of Surgical Technologists. Dependent upon employers policies, students with a criminal conviction may not be eligible for employment in a health care setting.

Surgical technologists apply theoretical knowledge to the care of patients undergoing surgery and perform duties such as prepare supplies, equipment, and instruments; maintain aseptic conditions; prepare patients for surgery; and assist surgeons during operations.
