E-quipped to Succeed in Business

Business conducted electronically over the Internet is a widespread trend. Now viewed as an integral component of the business world, electronic commerce, or e-commerce, as it is more commonly known, has dramatically spread the amount of trade conducted electronically.

Careers in the Internet economy, which were virtually unheard of less than a decade ago, now abound. Estimates of revenues generated from the Internet marketplace are over $16 billion dollars per year.  Virtually every business needs an Internet presence to some degree.

The benefits of e-commerce for any business are numerous. Substantial savings through reduced transaction costs add to the bottom line. Additionally, traditional supply chains are shortened significantly, and businesses can increase the amount of product information through the Internet.

Sandhills Community College has responded to this growing phenomenon by offering an E-Commerce concentration in Business Administration. Our program will give you a thorough understanding of e-commerce and will help you manage the e-commerce process of an existing business or put your own business online.
Our graduates are well prepared for employment opportunities in government agencies, financial institutions, and small to medium sized businesses or industries.

This program is also well-suited for entrepreneurs who have realized the growing importance of having a web presence. Our program combines all aspects of running a business, such as revenues, advertising, and public relations, and shows how to conduct it all through the Web. Even entrepreneurs with no prior experience using computers will benefit from this program.

Students are exposed to Internet strategies for business and basic e-commerce business principles. Course work includes topics related to electronic business, Internet strategy in business, and business principles in the world of E-Commerce. Students develop the ability to identify and analyze functional issues such as planning, technical systems, marketing, security, finance, law, design, implementation, assessment and policy issues.
