SCC Fire Academy

Do you enjoy helping people and making a difference in your community? Sandhills Fire Academy prepares you to become a competent, confident and fully prepared fire service provider. The Academy focuses on an intense hands-on approach to firefighting at our public safety training center campus. You will receive training and instruction that promotes both skill competency and understanding of the fireground.

Certifications include:

  • Firefighter I/II
  • Hazardous Materials Level I Responder
  • Technical Rescuer
  • EMT-Basic

Our program is approved by the NC Office of the State Fire Marshal and the NC Community College System. Current volunteer firefighters may be eligible for a fee waiver based on their membership with a local, city, county or state fire department. Application packets available at fireacademy.sandhills.edu or in the Continuing Education offices in Van Dusen Hall. Firefighter Certification Classes

Firefighter certification classes are offered throughout semester on nights and weekends at the Larry R.
