> Nurse Assistant I


rerequisite: Admission to the NAI Program and HS Diploma or GED

This course introduces basic skills required to provide personal care for patients, residents, or clients in a health care setting. Topics include communications, safety, patients' rights, personal care, vital signs, elimination, nutrition, emergencies, rehabilitation, and mental health. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills necessary to qualify as a Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Nurse Assistant I Registry. The Nurse Assistant I program at Sandhills is approved by the North Carolina Department of Health and Huma Services, Division of Facility Services.

This is a certificate-level course. You must have before you register:

    - Submitted an Application,
    - Placement Test qualified,
    - Interviewed with Program Coordinator,
    - Medical Form,
    - Social Security card, and
    - Picture I.D.

Programs are offered concurrently on the Main Campus and at the Hoke Center.
