Human Resources Development (HRD)

Human Resource DevelopmentHuman Resources Development (HRD) at Sandhills Community College focuses on assisting unemployed and underemployed adults secure the skills needed to become ready to reenter the workforce. 

Classes are held at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, the Sandhills Hoke Center in Raeford and at the Westmoore Center in Robbins.

Included in the program are:  skill assessment services, employability skills training and career counseling. 
HRD emphasizes the creation of developmental activities, which allow participants to acquire work-related, and self-sufficiency skills and to increase options for upgrading work skills.

HRD classes are available to all and may be free for qualified students who are either unemployed, have had a notification of a layoff, have an income 200% below the federal poverty level or are working and eligible for the federal earned income tax credit.

Students who complete the HRD series may also be eligible for a Continuing Education scholarship
