Sandhills Community College Distance Learning
Required Distance Learning Orientation

  1. Your Internet class will require one of the following orientations:
    1. On-campus orientation before the class begins or in the first week of class.
    2. Email contact with the instructor before the first day of class.
    3. Online orientation available to you when you login to your course on the first day of the semester.
  2. Click here for a schedule of registration dates and a schedule of classes. When you arrive at the "Schedules" page, be sure to click the "Online Classes Orientation Schedule" link for your semester.
  3. If you are taking a classroom class that has a Blackboard component, your instructor will provide you with an orientation in your classroom.
  4. No matter which type of orientation that your instructor requires, you must be sure to login to your course during the first three days of the course and complete the required assignments to demonstrate that you are actively participating in the course. Each instructor is required to report to the Office of Records and Registration and to Financial Aid that each student enrolled in an online course is actively particpating in the course during the first 10% of the course. Active participation in your course early in the course, if not from the first day of the semester, is one of the best ways to ensure that you will complete the course successfully by the end of the semester.
