COURSE PREREQUISITE RESOURCES
  • Math Practice
    The Department of Mathematics strongly encourages all students to complete the practice tests at Math.com before attempting a math placement test or before taking a re-test. Students can choose practice tests in a variety of math subject areas and skill levels. Test-taking and study tips are also available. Tutorials are also available for a variety of math courses with sample problems and solutions for solving those problems.
  • Accuplacer Study Guide
    This site describes the Accuplacer Test, gives test-taking tips, and provides an explanation of the format of each test. For sample questions similar to the actual test format, please review one of the sites below:
  • Accuplacer Online Course
    This site offers practice questions to help you develop the mathematics, writing and grammar, and reading comprehension skills that you will need for the Accuplacer test.
  • Placement Test Scores
    Use this site to check the placement scores required for math, English, and reading courses or for any course that requires a math or English placement score.
  • Writing Guides
    These guides provide students with instruction and practices exercises in grammar, punctuation, and composition.

TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS
  • Basic Computer Skills
    Students who transfer credit for ENG 111 from another college must demonstrate competency in basic computer skills before receiving an A.A., A.A.S., or A.S. degree. Students can demonstrate this competency by taking CIS 110, CIS 111, ENG 112, or ENG 114 at SCC; by appropriate work experience; or by credit by exam through the Department of Languages.
  • Oral Communication
    Students who transfer credit for ENG 112 or 114 from another college must demonstrate competency in oral communication skills before receiving an A.A., A.A.S., or A.S. degree. Students can demonstrate this competency by taking COM 110 or COM 231 at SCC, by taking ENG 115 at another North Carolina community college, by appropriate work experience, or by credit by exam through the Department of Languages.

  • Applied Science Programs
    This site lists the degree requirements for all Associate in Applied Science Degrees. This site also lists the admission requirements for each program, including placement alternatives for certain programs.
  • Courses Approved for Transfer
    This site lists all general education courses approved for transfer to the universities in the UNC System.
  • Humanities Electives
    This site lists all courses that will count as a humanities elective for all Associate in Applied Science Degrees.
  • Social Science Electives
    This site lists all courses that will count as a social science elective for all Associate in Applied Science Degrees.
  • University Studies Program
    This site lists the degree requirements for the Associate in Arts, Associate in General Education, Associate in Fine Arts, and Associate in Science degree programs and links to other information about transfer to a university.
